Why using just the ProKNX gateway to communicate with KNX /
EIB?
iPhone, iPad or other remotes are
wireless control systems. They are not always "online" to
listen, what is happening on the bus.
One possibility to know immediately about
the actual states on the bus is to use a server for your house.
However this device consumes energy (as it runs 24h/24h), it is
susceptible and it's life time is a lot shorter than your home.
The more simple and cost effective way
offers our ProKNX gateway. It is not just an IP gateway that transfers
events, but it also provides Communication Objects that are assigned to
group addresses (as any other KNX device). These objects are always
showing the actual state of all of your equipments (lights, shutters,
temperature controller, weather stations...). Once your wireless device
connects, it shows immediately the correct states and values of your
installation as it fetches all information just by connecting through IP
to the gateway. There is no bus request necessary to update the actual bus
states. Therefore the connection of your wireless device does not increase
bus traffic! |

Native Application On Apple Store
You may download at apple store the native iPhone
application "ProKNX". It is free of charge and the
configuration is done in a very smart and easy way without using any
additional software or graphical editor.
With the purchase of a
ProKNX-IPi or ProKNX-IP+ gateway you will get access to our web
configuration area. You will get a text file that you may edit off
line and fill in all communication parameters. Once you've done
this, you upload this file to our server, and (all of) your apple
devices may connect with a 4 digit code to our server and will be
configured accordingly within seconds! Once
your apple device is configured it will run offline without internet
connection.
